A Loving Connection

Today’s Verse: Ephesians 1:4-14 (ESV)

even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love 5 he predestined us for adoption to himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will, 6 to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in the Beloved. 7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace, 8 which he lavished upon us, in all wisdom and insight 9 making known to us the mystery of his will, according to his purpose, which he set forth in Christ 10 as a plan for the fullness of time, to unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth.
11 In him we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of him who works all things according to the counsel of his will, 12 so that we who were the first to hope in Christ might be to the praise of his glory. 13 In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, 14 who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory.

Today’s Takeaway

God does tremendous things to connect with us before asking us to do anything for Him.

Today’s Reflection

In reading today’s reading I have been touched by the things God says I am in this section of His Word.

  • I Am – Chosen of God (Eph 1:4)
  • I Am – Predestined to adoption as a son (Eph 1:5)
  • I Am – Accepted (Eph 1:6)
  • I Am – Redeemed (Eph 1:7)
  • I Am – Informed (make known to) (Eph 1:9)
  • I Am – An heir (obtained an inheritance) (Eph 1:11)
  • I Am – Sealed with the Holy Spirit (Eph 1:13)

I Am all of these because I trust Jesus Christ and receive his word of truth, the gospel of salvation (Eph 1:13).
I didn’t have to DO anything first, other that trust in Jesus.

This is the Law of Connection in its highest form. God, reaching out to connect with us, wanting to touch our heart, transforming our being without any precondition.

Today’s Prayer

Father, may I never forget how you desperately want a connection with me. Lord, help me to truly appreciate and understand what all of these I am statement mean. When I am weak, remind me of all that I am in you. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
